Slip cover for love seat

I went to Joann Fabrics to get some curtain material and while I was there I decided it was time to redecorate my living room. I live in an apartment so I can't paint. I found some terrific fabrics and decided to make a slip cover for my love seat and some pillows. So far I have the slip cover done. I made it with out a pattern. I am so happy as to how well it turned out.  Here are some pictures of the couch before and after with the new slip cover.

Presents for Preschoolers

Crayon Rolls
I made 16 of these crayon rolls for Christmas gifts to give to my preschoolers. They were easy and fun to make. Best part was giving them to the children and seeing their excitement.

current sewing project...

Well I have just volunteered my sewing skills to a Hula Dance Studio. I will be making six dresses, 4 possibly 5 for their Luau on the 14th of August, and eventually the other dress will be sewn for use in other performances. I am excited to be able to help them out. I will be posting pictures of the dresses as I make them so you all can see what fun I am having.

Inspired by Auntie Barb :P

Here we go....it is time to sew.
I decided to join the world of sewers/quilters who blog...thanks to a little push from auntie barb...love ya. So I am going to start posting about the sewing projects, quilts, and other crafty things I do. It will be fun and hopefully enjoyable for all.

A little back ground about my sewing/quilting experience. I have been sewing for a long time....may have started in grade school with my moms old singer.
While in college I would sew to reduce tension and stress. Made my first quilt by myself with no help during those stressful college days. Before college I mainly sewed dresses and things that didn't take to much time. Now I am into just about anything. I just like making things and listening to the soothing sound of my machine...it really isn't so soothing because it isn't very fancy, but it works and for now that is all I need....we'll talk about wants later.

I love fabric. Every time I see it I have to stop and look, then I can't keep my hands from reaching out and touching it...Oh it is so addicting.
A weakness I have is buying fabric when I don't have a project. In order for me to curb my addicting fabric behavior, I go visit my mom and I raid her stash...oh boy does she have a stash and it is like christmas going through...although not quite as good as christmas cause I don't get to take much. When I am good she lets me have the 'ugly', 'too bright', 'don't want this anymore', or 'here take this' fabric, which is all perfectly fine with me cause I am not choosy...it's all good to me and I love the endless possibilities.
